Cameo skull + fox pendant
I carved the top of this little canine setting a couple of years ago and only in my most recent session of cameo carving did I find the right stone for it. Now, with a swinging tail and an oval sardonyx skull clutched in place, I'm happy I held out.

As with my wax work, all stone carving is done by me in my Newcastle upon Tyne studio in the UK. I use diamond-coated discs and burrs, and the process gives me the most colourful headache.
Rock crystal is a completely transparent, colourless form of quartz.
