Giddy-up! horse cameo necklace
A tail-less horse cameo carved into a 10mm x 6mm oval sardonyx cabochon set within a sterling silver horse.
Horse setting: 20mm x 18mm
Length of chain: 45cm
As with my wax work, all stone carving is done by me in my Newcastle upon Tyne studio in the UK. I use diamond-coated discs and burrs, and the process gives me the most colourful headache.
Sardonyx is a naturally occurring variety of chalcedony composed of alternating bands of sard (the red colour here) and onyx (white or black).
