Johnny's Armadillo sterling silver and malacolla necklace
Malacolla is the rare, natural result of malachite and chrysocolla forming in each other's midst. The result is a gemstone with varied ratios of colour and pattern; the blue of chrysocolla and the banded green of malachite.
I managed to get my hands on some very high quality malacolla beads that have been beautifully cut and polished. No two beads are the same and I have a finite supply of these.
All of my gemstones are responsibly sourced from the same, reliable gemologist who visits sites and factories to ensure quality and authenticity, as well as safe, fair conditions of employment.
A Prayer for Owen Meany was one of those books that came along when my frontal lobe was still forming. It left a lasting impression, and I've long wanted to work on some jewellery designs that pay homage to the better books that have crossed my path.
Jonny's Armadillo is the first in this ongoing series. It was carved in wax and cast in 925 sterling silver in the UK.
