Squirrel rock crystal intaglio necklace
A rat with a fun tail, right? My largest hand-carved intaglio to date: a squirrel carved into a pear-shaped 25 x 15mm rock crystal, set in silver.
As with my wax work, all stone carving is done by me in my Newcastle upon Tyne studio in the UK. I use diamond-coated discs and burrs, and the process gives me the most colourful headache.
Rock crystal is a completely transparent, colourless form of quartz.
